I HAVE STARTED A FACEBOOK PAGE TO KEEP ALL OF THE PICTURES I HAVE OF MY OLD HOMETOWN. I ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM LINKING MY PHOTO ALBUM WITH THE BLOG AND DECIDED THIS WILL BE THE BEST AVENUE TO GO. SO IF YOU GO TO FACEBOOK AND TYPE IN......IMAGES OF MAZEPPA PA YOU WILL NOW FIND ALL OF THE PICTURES I ONCE HAD ON THIS BLOG. ROBERT BLYLER

RECENTLY THE DAILY ITEM DID A FEATURE ON MAZEPPA NATIVE ROBERT BLYLER.  HIS PICTURE CAN BE FOUND IN THE PHOTO ALBUM WITH THIS BLOG.  A BAG OF LETTERS FOUND IN THE ATTIC WAS PART OF A PRESENTATION DONE AT THE UNION COUNTY LIBRARY ABUT SNAIL MAIL IN WAR TIMES.  THE LETTERS WERE ONES SENT BY ROBERT ,  HIS FATHER PAUL AND SISTER MARGARET WHILE ROBERT WAS STATIONED IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC , DURING WW2. IN THE ARMY HE SERVED AS A LATHE OPERATOR AND WAS IN THE 36TH MALARIA CONTROL DETECHMENT , TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE. HE HELPED TO SUPERVISE SANITATION AND CLEANING OUT OF SWAMPS.   AWARDED A GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, PHILIPPINES LIBERATION RIBBON, ASIATIC PACIFIC THEATER SERVICE MEDAL , A BRONZE STAR AND A VICTORY MEDAL.  WHEN HE RETURNED HOME HE WENT TO WILLIAMSPORT TECHNICAL SCOOL ON THE GI BILL.  HE WAS THEN EMPLOYED BY THE LYCOMING DIVISION OF AVCO.  AGAIN LOOK FOR ROBERTS PICTURE IN THE PHOTO ALBUM.
